The nature of light is an electromagnetic energy. It is scientifically described by wavelength (frequency) and its intensity. Wavelength is stated in nanometer. “Nano” means that it is the billionth part of something, in this case of a meter.
In Light therapy a positive medical effect is achieved by exposing the body to light of a certain quality.
Light therapy with bright light boxes and visors can be applied successfully to treat:
- depressions, winter depressions (SAD - Seasonal Affecive Disorder)
- sleep disorders, disorder of the sleep-wake-pattern, jetlag
- premenstrual syndrome (PMS), "the days before the days"
and also in form of UV-light therapy for the professional treatment of:

- psoriasis, neurodermatitis and vitiligo (piebald skin)
